The Montgomery Police Department has identified the suspect involved in a felony theft and criminal possession of a forged instrument case and seeks the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

On May 31, 2023, Montgomery Police Investigators released a photo of an unknown female wanted for theft of property 1st degree and criminal possession of a forged instrument 1st degree. The offense occurred, on Friday, March 31, 2023, in the 2300 block of Taylor Road, Montgomery, Alabama. The suspect received cash that exceeded $2,500.00 in value, by means of fraud.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers received a tremendous response from the public which resulted in a number of tips. Investigators say these tips were essential in the identification of the suspect and without the public’s assistance, the suspect would not have been identified. CrimeStoppers depends on its community partnerships to help relay information from anonymous tipsters to law enforcement. Investigators say the suspect has been identified as Rhashema Shante Deramus Shackleford, 34, of Montgomery, AL. Shakleford is described as a black female, who stands at 5’2, and weighs approximately 180 lbs.

Shakleford has active felony warrants and is currently being sought by law enforcement. Investigators say this is an active Federal investigation and the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators ask anyone with information regarding Shackleford’s whereabouts to please immediately notify CrimeStoppers. CrimeStoppers is offering an additional cash reward to the tipster that provides Shackleford’s exact whereabouts, leading to her arrest.
